The Forgotten Battle

Overseas, the Second Great War raged on,
The bayonets did rattle.
American soil felt war in the predawn;
The Forgotten Battle.

The North Territory was invaded,
Japan changing the map.
America retaliated
“Alaska: Death Trap for the Jap.”

Year of struggle in wind, rain, snow, and fog.
Men, for their lives, scramble,
Adak, Attu, Kiska, and Kodiak,
The Forgotten Battle.

Invasion deep in American land,
Japan’s plot turned to scrap.
Alaska’s forgotten battle was a
Weather-wrought northern trap.
